The Bedford Humane Society would like to give their heart felt thanks to our beloved Sadie Seabolt: one of the founding members of BHS and one who has worked tirelessly to make life better for the many animals in Bedford.
Over the years Miss Sadie has had to step down from doing the things she’s loved because of how difficult they had become for her. The last program that she has just retired from today – at the age of 92 – is picking up food donated by our local Walmart.
She started picking up donations from Kroger and a distributor in Rocky Mount over 30 years ago. The last 15 or so she’s done the pickup from Walmart and bringing the food to our HQ building where we use it to give to low income families and for our foster families. Now someone else will be taking her place with hopes being as faithful and consistent in this important job as Miss Sadie has been for so many years!
