Pretty calico Sweetie came to Bedford Humane Society with that name and with a litter of beautiful friendly kittens. Her name truly fits her---she has been friendly and loving right from the start. We think she was a teenage mom probably born about May, 2017. Sweetie was a good mommy and all the babies found great homes. Now it is her time to be the star attraction. She is still playful and fun, is very talkative, and, most of all, is very sweet and affectionate. She seems to like most other cats and does not seem to mind dogs. She hasn’t had the chance to meet children, but most likely would be gentle with them. Sweetie is now spayed, current on Rabies and Feline Respiratory Complex vaccines, dewormed, microchipped, and tested for Feline Leukemia and FIV. To meet this fantastic flashy Sweetie, call 540/586-6100 or go to: www.bhsva.org/adoptions-home.htm to fill out an Adoption Application.

Rosalita is a cute orange tabby with the shyest demeanor out of all of her siblings. She doesn’t care for loud ruckus and just wants to hang out in a peaceful setting watching others take joy from their days. Rosalita had a hard life before coming to BHS and though she has warmed up to us she is still very reserved. If you give her chance with some time, patience, and consistency she would make a lovely addition to your family. Rosalita does love other cats and has not really been exposed to dogs or kids and with how shy she is would probably not do well in a very rowdy environment. To get to Rosalita’s heart you will have to go through her belly as she does love canned food. Rosalita has been dewormed, vaccinated, microchipped, tested for Feline Leukemia and Feline Immunodeficiency Viruses, and Spayed. Spice, what can we say about her? Well she is a deep almost marmalade color the darkest of all her siblings and absolutely stunning! Coming from a hoarding situation she is a shy but very sweet kitty. Spice would probably do better if she was adopted with one of her sisters or to a home that has other cats. She may hang back from the crowd but that’s okay, too much beauty front and center takes away from the group as a whole. She is content letting her sisters shine and be front and center while she sits backs and watches. However, if you have some canned food or toys be prepared to make a new friend because Spice along with all her sisters are food motivated and Spice does love to play. Spice has been dewormed, vaccinated, microchipped, tested for Feline Leukemia and Feline Immunodeficiency Viruses, and Spayed. Tiger can’t be mistaken with such striking markings on her lovely face! It took Tiger some time to come around coming from a hoarding situation. The stress of it all made her a little wild child when she arrived to BHS. Since then she has grown into a loving playful kitty. She loves all of her sisters and Latte who is her best pal at her foster home. Tiger takes time to warm up and get adjusted when moved to a new place but with the right amount of love and affection she will bloom into the cat you have always wanted. Tiger would be well suited for a home with another a cat or a home with two openings that could accommodate her and one of her sisters. Tiger would probably also like a home with less noise as the sound of her running and playing should be plenty of excitement for the household. Tiger has been dewormed, vaccinated, microchipped, tested for Feline Leukemia and Feline Immunodeficiency Viruses, and Spayed. Latte is an excellent little kitty who needs a little time to warm up to new people. Once you get to know her she will become the life of the party chasing a laser light anywhere you point it. Latte loves all other cats and has not met one that she considered a stranger always making fast friends. Talk about a motherly instinct put her with a kitten and watch her take over and shower it with all the love and affection a kitten could ever want. Latte would be a great companion for anyone who has other cats and maybe lives a quieter lifestyle as her shy demeanor won’t shine as well with lots of ruckus. Latte has been dewormed, vaccinated, microchipped, tested for Feline Leukemia and Feline Immunodeficiency Viruses, and Spayed. Bubbie is our little kitten-for-life. He was born about February, 2017. We are guessing it was Valentine's Day, he is such a sweetheart. Bubbie is part of the group of cats that came to BHS from a crowded house full of orange kitties. They didn't get much individual attention, so he was just part of a pack. As a result, the group is great with other cats, but most are initially unsure of new people. Bubbie has had lots of one on one attention since moving into his foster home and he loves to be petted and talked to. He can be very silly and flirty when he plays. His classic move is to collapse onto his side when he thinks he needs you to pet him or toss his toys. Bubbie is a handsome red tabby with bright orange eyes. He is quite small and will not be over 7 pounds. He had some health issues when he was young that he has recovered from and this kept him from growing as much as his littermates. He really does seem like a kitten still. He is an adult and ready for his own home with someone who can give him a little time to get comfortable and settle in. Bubbie has so much love to reward the person who gives him that chance. He is neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, microchipped, and tested negative for FeLV/FIV. He hasn't met dogs and sometimes plays too rough to be suitable for young children. Bedford Humane Society is a foster home based rescue, so please fill out an application at bhsva.org to setup a meeting. If you have issues please call 540-586-6100 or email info@bhsva.org for assistance.

Frankie is a handsome tabby cat who came to Bedford Humane Society from a crowded home full of orange cats. He looks a lot like his brothers, so he didn't really have his own identity or even a name. Just a face in the crowd, he actually is quite a confident, well-adjusted sweetheart. When you meet him, first you notice his bright orange eyes. They are gorgeous. Then you realize Frankie is just very handsome and has a lovely personality as well. We guess he was born in early January, 2017. He still romps and plays like a kitten. He also loves being petted and talked to. Frankie is now neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, treated for fleas, microchipped, and tested for FeLV/FIV. We don't know how he does with dogs or children. With patience, this sweet fellow would likely adjust to any type of home. He is one the rare cats who can be added into an established cat family. Oyster is a wonderful, sweet, playful teenager who is one half of a pair of gorgeous fluffy white cats. He and his mother Pearl are a bonded pair whom we do not want to separate as they have grown up together. She is quite lovely, gentle, and sweet also. They look just alike except Oyster has about ten black hairs on the top of his head and he tends to stay leaner because he is still playful and active. He is just over one year old now. Pearl is probably just 9 months older than Oyster, but she is more inactive and cuddly. They both are initially shy with new people, but warm up quickly and are accepting of dogs and other cats. They are gentle enough for children, but probably would be nervous around small or very active children. Bedford Humane Society is a foster home based rescue, so please fill out an application at bhsva.org to setup a meeting. Dawn came to us with her beautiful fluffy babies when someone dumped them off in a stranger's yard. This sweet girl was a very good mommy. Now all the babies have gone on to find their own homes and it is Dawn's turn. She is a pretty blue grey short-haired girl who looks to be fairly young, probably born sometime early in 2016 or 2015. We always wish our stray babies came to us with a note pinned on them so we could know their background. Dawn is friendly and undemanding. She seems to prefer to be an only pet, but she probably would adjust to a home with other pets that don't scare her. She also seems to be a personality that would be happiest in an indoor/outdoor home, so adopters that would allow her to go outdoors in a safe environment would be considered. Dawn is now spayed, vaccinated, dewormed, microchipped, & tested negative for FeLV & FIV. This is one big handsome fellow. He was 20 pounds when he came to us, but with a better diet is now nearly at his proper weight of 18 pounds. Sonny has soft, bunny fur that he keeps neat even when he goes outdoors. He was accustomed to being outdoors most of the time when he was signed over to Bedford Humane Society, but he became an indoor kitty when we discovered that he is carrying the Feline Immunodeficiency Virus. This is a contagious virus that is primarily spread by cat bites. It can be spread to cats only. FIV affects cats to varying degrees and usually the cats that test positive for FIV live long happy lives. They are more susceptible to catching infections, so it is strongly recommended that they stay indoors exclusively. This will also keep them from passing the virus. Mr. Sonny is adjusting very well to being indoors, especially when he has had access to a screened porch. Sonny is now 7 years and seems quite healthy. He doesn’t seem to mind other cats or dogs. He is neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, microchipped, and tested negative for Feline Leukemia. We would recommend him for a home with no cats or with other cats infected with FIV. Bedford Humane Society is a foster home based rescue, so please fill out an application at bhsva.org to setup a meeting. Pearl is a wonderful kitty, beautiful both inside and out. She has lovely long white fur that she keeps very tidy. She is gentle and a little shy, especially in an unfamiliar place, but she loves to cuddle. If she gets frightened, she will curl up into a ball and cover her face with that bushy tail to pretend to be invisible. When that happens, all her person has to do is pick her up. Pearl will just melt into your lap or arms. Once she knows you, she greets you with a purr as soon as she sees you. We think she was probably born in early 2016, but she still plays with toys and with other gentle kitties. She is very bonded to her son, Oyster, so we feel we must adopt Pearl out with him. She is now spayed, microchipped, treated for ear mites and fleas, dewormed, vaccinated, and tested for FeLV/FIV. The pair is OK with calm dogs and are so gentle that they would be safe with children. Pearl and Oyster would be happiest in a calm, quiet household. Bedford Humane Society is a foster home based rescue, so please fill out an application at bhsva.org to setup a meeting. Faye was rescued with her sister Tina by a BHS volunteer from a parking lot culvert where the 2 month old babies had been living. We think they were born sometime in late April, 2016. Faye and Tina were so lucky to be rescued. They were thin and had diarrhea, probably from eating whatever trash tiny kittens can manage to eat. They were very, very frightened for a long time; we assume their mom had also grown up as a forgotten stray. Mothers like that teach their babies to be distrustful. Despite being scared, these kittens have always been gentle. Faye has come a long way in foster care. She is so very shiny and healthy now. Her foster mom used the fact that Faye is so worried that she may go hungry again that food works well as a training aid. Faye now comes up to greet people she knows and asks to be petted. She is still spooked by sudden noises and movements or strange people, so she would do best in a quiet, calm home. She would probably do well with other cats and older children. She is still afraid of dogs. We would want her to be indoors only to be sure she stays safe. She is spayed, vaccinated, dewormed, microchipped, and tested for FeLV/FIV. Bedford Humane Society is a foster home based rescue, so please fill out an application at bhsva.org to setup a meeting. Pokemon is a little fellow who came to BHS before his eyes opened, back in May, 2013. It looked like someone had been cruel to his brothers, cutting or breaking their tails. Pokey was the lucky one who survived and went on to be adopted by a nice little girl and her family. He got to grow up with her and learned to love to be brushed on his head and play with feather toys. Unfortunately he came back to BHS when his family moved. Pokey is a calm kitty, but loves to play with toys even by himself. He grew up as an only kitty, so he seems to be afraid of many other cats and of dogs. He is hoping to soon find a warm bed to sleep in again. Until then he has his special basket he loves to curl up in. Pokemon is neutered, current on vaccines and deworming, is microchipped, and tested negative for kitty viruses. And he has a cute, distinctive crooked short, fluffy tail. BunBun is a unique cat with a cute little bunny tail typical of a Manx cat and bright red tabby markings. He has always been charming and loving. His full name was Shy Guy Bunny Tail because of that distinctive tail and because when he first came to us, he was so very shy. Born in Fall, 2012, he had lived the first 6 months of his life with his brother and sisters in a tiny room with little contact with anyone else. His world was small then, but he has been with us for a while and has learned to be brave and more outgoing. He has gotten to be pals with several more confident cats and even plays with toys. BunBun seems to like any other cats he has met, but sometimes he can romp and play too rough for older cats. He doesn’t seem concerned with dogs. He’s had his vaccines, microchip, and FeLV/FIV test. Allie is a roly poly sweet, calm grey tabby who is looking for a lap and some love of her own. She started her life as a half-wild kitten born outdoors, but she has grown up entirely indoors, with lots of kitty friends and contact with dogs. She does love to look out windows to see birds and butterflies or whatever is going on outdoors. Allie was born in April, 2012. She is still playful with toys and laser lights. She can be shy at first, but quickly will come to be petted and to shadow the movements of the person nearby. She can also be content on her own, curled up on her bed or in a box. She has very pretty dark stripes and yellow-green eyes. Allie keeps herself very clean, but does enjoy brushing. She is spayed, microchipped and current on her Rabies and FRCP vaccines. She tested negative for Feline Leukemia & FIV. She has been dewormed and treated for fleas as needed, so Allie is ready and waiting for the right home. She would probably do best in a quieter household as she has not had contact with children.
