Hazel is a litter mate of Si, she is much smaller and did not get his Siamese color but is a beautiful 4 month old kitten none the less. Her beautiful tortie coat is very sleek and she’s trimmed out beautifully with white feet. Hazel is the most active and energetic in her litter and is definitely the leader and boss of the litter. She loves people and has a great loud purr. She has limitless energy and needs someone who has time to keep her exercised. She would love to be able to be adopted with her brother or her other roommate Quincy, but would probably be fine on her own too. Two kittens are just so much fun together though especially if their family is gone a lot. Once you meet our beautiful Hazel you’ll fall in love! Hazel has been dewormed, vaccinated, microchipped, tested for Feline Leukemia and Feline Immunodeficiency Viruses, and spayed. Amber is a 1 year old or less beautiful kitty who is sweet and very lovable. She was in a home happy and settled when something happened and she had to be surrendered to a kill shelter. We never know in life what brings these changes. Amber did not tell anyone, but she was pregnant. When she started to gain weight the shelter staff knew they had to work hard to get her out of the full shelter. Bedford Humane Society (BHS) became Amber's hero. She was in custody only a few days when she gave birth to an adorable orange tabby boy (Scotch). After a few hours and no other kittens were born BHS knew something was terribly wrong. Amber went to the vet, and even though a C-section was preformed, it was too late for Scotch's siblings. Amber was healthy enough to survive this terrible tragedy. After a week of learning to be a first time mom and getting into a schedule, Animal Control called with a desperate request of a nursing mom for a single kitten found alone with no mom. Amber came to the rescue and took little Gin in without hesitation. Two weeks went by and Scotch and Gin are doing well when another call came in for help. Three babies lost their mom to a car accident. They appear to be a week younger than Scotch and Gin. Would Amber again take on such a job? Amber did take the three kittens as if they were hers but could not produce enough milk to support 100 percent so foster mom help by substituting bottle feeding little Daiquiri, Tequila and Whiskey. The reason for such a long story is to tell you how Amber has the love for other animals and people. She is a true foster mom and a huge Hero. She is good with other adult cats and has been meeting herr foster mom's dogs through a gate. She loves to sit in someone’s lap and loves her belly rubbed. She does not mind being picked up. Amber is now looking for a forever home. Can you give this wonderful girl a home? Amber's adoption fee is $50.00 to help pay for the medical attention she has received. Quincy was born March 2019 with 4 siblings, and raised in a foster home where they have been handled since birth. Quincy has a small spot of white on his chest. He is a little shy when he first meets you. He loves to play and run. If you are tired of watching re-runs on TV, Quincy can be your entertainment. Quincy is totally litter box trained. Quincy has been dewormed, vaccinated, microchipped, tested for Feline Leukemia and Feline Immunodeficiency Viruses. Since he is not yet neutered, Quincy is not available for adoption outside of the counties contiguous to Bedford County. Wolfie is a handsome man who can be a little shy. Wolfie loves food so if you want him to warm up to you a can of food is a sure way to get his attention. In Wolfie’s foster home he lives with his best bud Frankie. Frankie, being the more outgoing of the two, gets Wolfie to come out of his shell. Wolfie would do well if you had room for him and his foster brother Frankie. If you only have room for Wolfie that’s okay too just know he will be a background kitty not center stage. Wolfie does enjoy playing with his feather toys and would love to curl up on the couch in a nice quiet home. Due to Wolfie being so shy he would probably not do well in a home with small children. Wolfie has been dewormed, vaccinated, microchipped, tested for Feline Leukemia and Feline Immunodeficiency Viruses, and neutered. Wolfie is also litter box trained and would make a great addition to any home. Latte is an excellent little kitty who needs a little time to warm up to new people. Once you get to know her she will become the life of the party chasing a laser light anywhere you point it. Latte loves all other cats and has not met one that she considered a stranger always making fast friends. Talk about a motherly instinct put her with a kitten and watch her take over and shower it with all the love and affection a kitten could ever want. Latte would be a great companion for anyone who has other cats and maybe lives a quieter lifestyle as her shy demeanor won’t shine as well with lots of ruckus. Latte has been dewormed, vaccinated, microchipped, tested for Feline Leukemia and Feline Immunodeficiency Viruses, and Spayed. Frankie is an outgoing love bug! Want a cat who will be playful, then want to curl up on your lap on a rainy day? Well Frankie is your man. He does have a very shy foster brother who he loves and would like to find a home where they both would be welcome. If not Frankie will be happy on his own or with other cats. With his outgoing personality he would probably do well with children as well; it is at least worth a meeting. Frankie will do anything for canned food and enjoys playing with his feather toy. Frankie has been dewormed, vaccinated, microchipped, tested for Feline Leukemia and Feline Immunodeficiency Viruses, and neutered. Frankie is also litter box trained. Faye was rescued with her sister Tina by a BHS volunteer from a parking lot culvert where the 2 month old babies had been living. We think they were born sometime in late April, 2016. Faye and Tina were so lucky to be rescued. They were thin and had diarrhea, probably from eating whatever trash tiny kittens can manage to eat. They were very, very frightened for a long time; we assume their mom had also grown up as a forgotten stray. Mothers like that teach their babies to be distrustful. Despite being scared, these kittens have always been gentle. Faye has come a long way in foster care. She is so very shiny and healthy now. Her foster mom used the fact that Faye is so worried that she may go hungry again that food works well as a training aid. Faye now comes up to greet people she knows and asks to be petted. She is still spooked by sudden noises and movements or strange people, so she would do best in a quiet, calm home. She would probably do well with other cats and older children. She is still afraid of dogs. We would want her to be indoors only to be sure she stays safe. She is spayed, vaccinated, dewormed, microchipped, and tested for FeLV/FIV. Bedford Humane Society is a foster home based rescue, so please fill out an application at bhsva.org to setup a meeting. If you have issues please call 540-586-6100 or email info@bhsva.org for assistance.
