Grace is a lovely sleek elegant 1 year old cat. She is very self confident and enjoys interacting with people. She gets along great with kids and other cats but deals better with neutered males than females. She would probably love to be a single where the whole household would revolve around her, which it should! She is an exceptional cat and was a very young teenage mother but her kittens have all been adopted and now it’s time for her to shine on her own. To meet her is to love her! Grace has been dewormed, vaccinated, microchipped, tested for Feline Leukemia and Feline Immunodeficiency Viruses, and spayed. For more information, please call the Bedford Humane Society at 540-586-6100, or go to www.bhsva.org/adoptions-home.htm to fill out an adoption application.

Basil is a very striking 1 year old brown tabby with beautiful golden eyes. He is extremely long and tall with a lovely long tail. His white markings set off his tabby coat beautifully. Basil’s personality is sweet and affectionate and would be a great lap kitty given a large enough lap! He is currently being fostered with his sister who pretty much bosses him around and he would probably enjoy a new home all to himself where he wouldn’t have to share. If you’d like to meet this special boy give us a call and we’ll set up a meeting. You’ll love him! Basil has been dewormed, vaccinated, microchipped, tested for Feline Leukemia and Feline Immunodeficiency Viruses, and neutered. Ollie's estimated birthday is June 20, 2019. He and his siblings were found outside in Bedford with no mother around. They were only about 4 weeks old then. Since they have been in BHS custody two of the siblings have passed from having a low immune system. Ollie and his brother Milo have been given lots of medical attention to get them ready for their forever home. Ollie has had lots of one on one, hands on attention which has made him a loving kitten whom enjoys being with people. Ollie needs to wait until Aug 20th before he can go to his new home but would like to have an approved adopter waiting for him. Ollie has been dewormed, vaccinated , microchipped and tested for Feline Leukemia and Feline Immunodeficiency Viruses. Due to his age of testing your vet may require testing again after he is a little older. Due to not being neutered, there will be a separate contract, requiring a $50 returnable deposit, to sign upon adopting him. His adoption fee is $80 which helps cover the medical fees that Ollie has had since he was taken into custody. His neuter will be covered at no cost to the adopter. Since he is not yet neutered, Ollie is not available for adoption outside of the counties contiguous to Bedford County. For more information, please call the Bedford Humane Society at 540-586-6100, or go to www.bhsva.org/adoptions-home.htm to fill out an adoption application.

Gin is a 3 month old and is all kitten all wrapped up in a bundle of fun She has had a rough start in life. She was found alone crying in the front yard of a nice lady’s house. Her eyes had just opened (guessing 2 weeks old) and mom was nowhere in sight. Animal Control just happened to know that Bedford Humane Society had a cat with kittens around the same age. Gin took to her new mom and siblings with no issues. She loves to play with her litter mates and loves adult cats. She was talking when Animal Control found her and she is still talking. Gin loves to meow and purr at the same time. She has been introduced to cat friendly dogs. Gin is a little small for her age but soon will be growing like a weed. Gin is up to date on vaccines for her age. Her adoption fee for July special is $25.00 which includes being free from internal and external parasites, vaccinations for her age, microchipped and spay. Gin also has been Felv/Fiv tested negative. Amber is a 1 year old or less beautiful kitty who is sweet and very lovable. She was in a home happy and settled when something happened and she had to be surrendered to a kill shelter. We never know in life what brings these changes. Amber did not tell anyone, but she was pregnant. When she started to gain weight the shelter staff knew they had to work hard to get her out of the full shelter. Bedford Humane Society (BHS) became Amber's hero. She was in custody only a few days when she gave birth to an adorable orange tabby boy (Scotch). After a few hours and no other kittens were born BHS knew something was terribly wrong. Amber went to the vet, and even though a C-section was preformed, it was too late for Scotch's siblings. Amber was healthy enough to survive this terrible tragedy. After a week of learning to be a first time mom and getting into a schedule, Animal Control called with a desperate request of a nursing mom for a single kitten found alone with no mom. Amber came to the rescue and took little Gin in without hesitation. Two weeks went by and Scotch and Gin are doing well when another call came in for help. Three babies lost their mom to a car accident. They appear to be a week younger than Scotch and Gin. Would Amber again take on such a job? Amber did take the three kittens as if they were hers but could not produce enough milk to support 100 percent so foster mom help by substituting bottle feeding little Daiquiri, Tequila and Whiskey. The reason for such a long story is to tell you how Amber has the love for other animals and people. She is a true foster mom and a huge Hero. She is good with other adult cats and has been meeting herr foster mom's dogs through a gate. She loves to sit in someone’s lap and loves her belly rubbed. She does not mind being picked up. Amber is now looking for a forever home. Can you give this wonderful girl a home? Amber's adoption fee is $50.00 to help pay for the medical attention she has received. Wolfie is a handsome man who can be a little shy. Wolfie loves food so if you want him to warm up to you a can of food is a sure way to get his attention. In Wolfie’s foster home he lives with his best bud Frankie. Frankie, being the more outgoing of the two, gets Wolfie to come out of his shell. Wolfie would do well if you had room for him and his foster brother Frankie. If you only have room for Wolfie that’s okay too just know he will be a background kitty not center stage. Wolfie does enjoy playing with his feather toys and would love to curl up on the couch in a nice quiet home. Due to Wolfie being so shy he would probably not do well in a home with small children. Wolfie has been dewormed, vaccinated, microchipped, tested for Feline Leukemia and Feline Immunodeficiency Viruses, and neutered. Wolfie is also litter box trained and would make a great addition to any home. Latte is an excellent little kitty who needs a little time to warm up to new people. Once you get to know her she will become the life of the party chasing a laser light anywhere you point it. Latte loves all other cats and has not met one that she considered a stranger always making fast friends. Talk about a motherly instinct put her with a kitten and watch her take over and shower it with all the love and affection a kitten could ever want. Latte would be a great companion for anyone who has other cats and maybe lives a quieter lifestyle as her shy demeanor won’t shine as well with lots of ruckus. Latte has been dewormed, vaccinated, microchipped, tested for Feline Leukemia and Feline Immunodeficiency Viruses, and Spayed. Frankie is an outgoing love bug! Want a cat who will be playful, then want to curl up on your lap on a rainy day? Well Frankie is your man. He does have a very shy foster brother who he loves and would like to find a home where they both would be welcome. If not Frankie will be happy on his own or with other cats. With his outgoing personality he would probably do well with children as well; it is at least worth a meeting. Frankie will do anything for canned food and enjoys playing with his feather toy. Faye was rescued with her sister Tina by a BHS volunteer from a parking lot culvert where the 2 month old babies had been living. We think they were born sometime in late April, 2016. Faye and Tina were so lucky to be rescued. They were thin and had diarrhea, probably from eating whatever trash tiny kittens can manage to eat. They were very, very frightened for a long time; we assume their mom had also grown up as a forgotten stray. Mothers like that teach their babies to be distrustful. Despite being scared, these kittens have always been gentle. Faye has come a long way in foster care. She is so very shiny and healthy now. Her foster mom used the fact that Faye is so worried that she may go hungry again that food works well as a training aid. Faye now comes up to greet people she knows and asks to be petted. She is still spooked by sudden noises and movements or strange people, so she would do best in a quiet, calm home. She would probably do well with other cats and older children. She is still afraid of dogs. We would want her to be indoors only to be sure she stays safe. She is spayed, vaccinated, dewormed, microchipped, and tested for FeLV/FIV. Bedford Humane Society is a foster home based rescue, so please fill out an application at bhsva.org to setup a meeting. If you have issues please call 540-586-6100 or email info@bhsva.org for assistance.
